Introduction:
In China, new food raw materials or new food additives (hereinafter referred to as new substances) are only permitted to be used after receiving official approval from the National Health Commission (HNC). Once their applications have been formally accepted and entered the technical review process, NHC Government Service Hall will post the announcement of the new substance’s acceptance on its official website. This list, which is continually being updated, is a compilation of new substances that have been issued acceptance announcements that attempts to help food enterprises to better understand the application of new substances in China.
Notes:
1. Substances included in this list have not been officially approved in China yet, it only indicates that an applicant has submitted an application for a new substance to the NHC. Additionally, they are only permitted to be used in the appropriate scope after receiving formal approval from the NHC.
2. To avoid confusion, new substances that have been issued for public comments or approved will be removed from this list. Please refer to the “List of Substances in Soliciting Public Opinions” and “List of Approved New Food Raw Materials (Novel Food)”.

By entering the name of the food raw material/food additive, information on the name, acceptance code and date, and publicly available latest approval status of each accepted product can be found.
